Virat, the man with the golden bat is one of the best batsmen in this modern era of cricket. His timing and consistency are at the top at the moment. He is the captain of the INDIAN team in all the 3 formats, ODI, tests, t2o’s. He is also the captain of the IPL team Royal Challengers Banglore for many years. He is also the owner of FC Goa franchise of the Indian Super League. He is also the co-owner of the Bengaluru Yodhas franchise of the Indian Pro Wrestling League.

Birth And Early Life:

Virat Kohli was born on 5th of November 1988, in Delhi, India. His father Prem Kohli was a criminal lawyer and his mother Saroj Kohli is a housewife. He is youngest among the 3 children of his parents. Virat became interested in cricket at a very small age of only 3 years. The fire to the spark inside Virat’s mind was given by his father, who enrolled him at West Delhi Cricket Academy when he was only 9 years old.

Cricketing Career:

He played for Delhi Under-15 in 2002 and was the leading run-getter in the Polly Umriger Trophy which resulted in earning the Captain position in the next season. He was also a part of Delhi Under-17 squad for Vijay Merchant Trophy. He played very well for the consecutive 2 seasons, as a result, Delhi lifted the trophy in the 2004-05 season. He became the part of the Under-19 Indian team in 2006. In the same year, Kohli’s father died, and the whole responsibility was on young Kohli’s shoulder.

It was the time when Kohli started taking the game even more seriously. He was selected in the Indian squad in 2008. He played very consistently during the year 2008-10 which earned him a place in the Indian squad for the World Cup in 2011. He played in each and every game in the tournament. The year 2013 was the year where he proved his metal and played fantastically well in the series against Australia. He scored the fastest century by an Indian player in Odi’s in just 52 balls. He was made the captain of the Indian.  Test team in 2014 and captain of all the formats in 2016. He has made 21 centuries in Tests and 35 centuries in Odi’s till date.

Virat married with famous Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma in 2017 whom he met in 2013 for the first time. He received Arjuna Award in the year 2013. Recently he was given Padma Shri Award in 2017. Apart from this, he has won ICC Player of the Year 2 times. He is truly the best example of hard work, discipline, and self-determination.
